I think we've got this ironed out somewhat...
This is a dedicated thread for our upcoming gathering on 2/11. The idea is to get together first some place for socializing, showing off gear, etc, then head over to Chinatown for the Chinese New Year Parade to do some shooting.
Who: Bay Area RFF'ers (plus anyone else who is interested)
When: 3PM Saturday 2/11
Where: Cafe @ SFMOMA

Valentine's Day falls on a Tuesday this year which means the weekend before is, well, I guess for lack of a better name, Valentine's Weekend. Which means that on 2/11 I'm going to be focused on my wife (bad pun, I know) rather than on taking pictures. Hope you guys have a good time and get some great shots!

Just bumpity-bumping. I am going to do some bulk-rolling tomorrow or Wednesday night for that day. Between Alcatraz and the parade (plus wandering around in between) I'll probably shoot like 10 rolls. Sweet.

Made it back to Sacramento OK. Hope everyone else made it back to their homes fine. It was great meeting all the people from the San Francisco area.. GREAT GROUP, GREAT TIME!

Well, the good news is that we had a pretty good showing, shared some information, and got to know each other a bit. Looking at some of the galleries at 49 geary was nice, too.
The bad news is that we lost each other awfully fast at the parade. Just too many people all around.
Perhaps our next one should go back to the "just sharing" idea, or at least involve shooting in a slightly less hectic area
I really enjoyed meeting everyone.

Allan! You did not say anything about visiting Alcatraz and getting a special behind the scenes tour in the hospital section. Being allowed to setup and photography to our hearts content. Not to mention the great areas we visited that were already open to the general public! Then having a wonderful lunch and cruising on over to MOMA for desert and coffee. THEN, stalking the streets with our trusty shooting irons to capture those decisive moments! hhmmm, if it was not so expensive I would move out to California right now.

Since the Alcatraz part wasn't explicitly part of the Bay Area thing, I didn't feel I could taunt folks in here as much about us getting so much access.
That was amazing, though. I souped my negs today and they look terrific. Gotta do some scanning at work tomorrow (actual work duties be damned!).
