I just got two 2GB SanDisk Extreme III cards which are not appearing in my finder sidebar or reliably on my desktop (MBP running 10.5.7). The 2GB SanDisk Ultra II cards and all my other cards appear normally. The card is mounted, for I can access it via Adobe Bridge, but I can't see it to move files to my back-up disks or eject it properly.

Suggestions?

Try a different card reader. I have about a hundred CF and SD cards and some just don't interface properly in certain readers.

Could be a voltage problem, or god knows what. Some readers just don't like certain cards. Best thing is to get a firewire reader, they seem least problematic and faster than USB2 readers.

Annoying, but I suppose the simplest solution. I have a couple of other readers lying around I should try. The PC slot one has been fantastic- till now...

This has happened to me, too. I've settled on using the cheapest little "35 in 1" USB card reader by hama. It just works. I also use the nifty little plug-in reader by Sandisk that comes bundled (at a price) with their type III cards. That seems to work with all of my SDs.

I may just go back to the Ultra II's, I haven't noticed any faster write times, and the PC slot reader has made my life a lot simpler.
