Well, mine has the initial letters in capital, and the rest are lower case. And the picture in my (old) edition of Lager is that way, as well. Still, if it's a fake, it's a really nice one! Let's see if anyone has seen other all-caps examples.

That's my opinion Rob - If it's a fake, at leat is a fine fake :)

I went to look at used Leica stores and I have seen both - with and without the complete letters in capital... Seems that is legit. But even so I would love to ear the experts opinion.

There is a HUGE factory, in an abandoned former East German V2 rocket storage facility, where 700 crack Ukrainian and German forgers are churning out these questionable SBOOI finders around the clock.

They have flooded the market, eBay is inundated with them.

There seems to be no end to the forgeries, the market is insatiable.

While the finders appear to be perfect in every minute detail, the enormous blunder of putting "Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Germany" in capital letters is so glaring that one wonders how the mistake could have been made.

Millions of these finders can now be easily spotted and avoided by even the rankest layperson.

Caveat Emptor.

It`s just an EARLY version of the SBOOI later one`s had the gmbh etc. etc.
(I think there`s like 3 or 4 differnet versions of this finder)

Yeah, those are the same people making all the fake Leica FIATE stereo bars, Leica IIIC K bodies, grey paint Leica lens caps, black Luftwaffen Eigenturm cases and Black Summarex lenses! .............. :p
