I soooo looove to see old manuals. i only saw fed 2 scanned manual on internet and its great. does anyone here on rff have scanned manual and want to share it with us? Also a manual for kiev 2 would be great (i know you have it Max! :D )
Thanks in advance

I can't help with fsu's, but I'm considering scanning the Leica IIIc manual if anyone needs it... and if I ever afford the ones for the Leica Standard, and Contax II, then I'd scan them too

Hi,
I have the original manual for the Fed2 in russian and an english manual for the Fed4. They are in a pile of about 40 waiting to be scanned to put on the website. I will put the Fed4 one there eventually but not the russian Fed2 one. If you need scans of that I will try and get it done.

i dont know. but you can send them to my email srdjaneftimovski@yahoo.com
and i will upload them to geocities or somwhere like that. i can do that without much troube since i often make sites.
btw i will try to make site about fsu rangefinders these days. when i find enough info - because i want to make all specifications for cameras and lenses and production rate for cameras also. and my next goal is to make ltm lens database for all manufacturers - i will need rff help for that.

Jay, in the "manage attachments" window, it shows .pdf as one of the available filetypes. You might give it a go just attaching it to a post.

Hello and sorry guys, I've been busy with work [lots of problems to solve] and my forthcoming photo exhibition in Prague [things to deal with as well] so I haven't had time to come on RFF. I've sent Russ Pinchbeck the files of my fully-scanned Kiev-2A manual (actually, a very old Kiev-II / Kiev-III handbook in russian). I'm not sure but I think there are in the illustrations somewhere a ZK Sonnar depicted. Maybe Russ has put it online somewhere? :)
Cheers,
Max

Edit : sorry, no ZK Sonnar, but the J-8 looks like a VERY early model. The 135mm lens looks more like a 135/4 Triotar than a J-11...

...

In a 1950 Zorki manual, the f/2 and f/1,5 lenses weren't marked as Jupiter, but rather as "ZK". In later manuals they become named as Jupiter lenses. The spelling in Russian for lens was also odd: "об'ектив" instead of the usual "объектив". The old manual also described the Zorki as a "FED type" camera.

The FED manuals on the other hand don't even mention these lenses, nor the use of focal lengths other than the FED 50mm supplied with the cameras.

I'm going to have some Kiev manuals available on the Kiev Survival Site but I still have to complete scanning the other 3 manuals I have. Come to think of it I will have to figure out the mechanism in my web page on how to download a whole pdf document.

Maybe this weekend I'll have time to do this.

If we can attach a pdf to posts here I can send them.

Cheers,

Russ Pinchbeck

OK, Kiev manuals you want, Kiev manuals you get! :)
There are now manuals in the "How it Works" section.

The files are kind of large but its worth the wait to download.

Enjoy!
