Hello,
I'm looking for some scanner for prints only. My requirements are just that it can scan full tonal scale of b&w print reproducing all tones and colors reasonably well (I like toning, wt papers and now experimenting with lith printing...so my b&w is everything but b&w :D ). Also, it should be supported by SANE under linux ( http://www.sane-project.org/sane-mfgs.html ). And if it would be under 200$, it would be ideal.

Any experience with Canon LIDE 25/60, Epson V10/V100 etc?

Until now, I had HP 4470, but it can't resolve small tonal differences in shadows. I'm not sure if it's even possible with only 8bits per channel most scanners are capable of.

Any tips? Links for good reviews are also welcomed. Googling didn't get me too far this time - just many short reviews/shops without any real information or examples of actual scans :(
