Just realized (does this sound familiar) today is a fine day to take a shot of my 'scooter' and the 'shooter' , probably some of the rest of the RFF crew have some form of 2 wheeled transportation too.

Here is a Tomos Arrow with my Zeiss Super Ikonta 532 and a Yashica Electro 35 GSN. What are you using?

Jan

I have a Tomos Wizzard, same engine and a messikonta and a superikonta IV. BTW have you tuned your Tomos? I have tuned mine, about 70 kph, 45mph.

Hi ikophot

no I am not a mechanically adept person. I just tighten screws on the mirrors and brakes as they vibrate loose. That is the extent of my mechanical skills.

I have heard that some people have 'tuned up' their mopeds but thought it was not worth the effort. Right now I max out at 50 km. Maybe I'll think about it

post a shot of the Wizzard. I'd love to see it!

Jan

Tuneup guide ;

1. Get rid of the worthless exhaustpipe, order a new one
2. Make the exhaust port in the cylinder head slightly larger
3. A larger jet in the carburettor
4. Done

And dump that useless centralstand 🙂

will post pic later

My scooter and a shooter.

Frank, who knew?

you 2 wheeled fox you. I'm seeing more of the camera (looks Russian) than the bike. What is the story? C'mon you're with friends you can tell, we won't say a word.

Jan

I've posted pictures of my bike before, Jan. It's a 1976 BMW R90/6. The camera is a FED 2eII with I-61LD lens and yellow filter.

I took this photo as I was heading to town to buy an ethernet card for my desktop computer, so that I could use a wireless router for my laptop. I took a photo of a lne of 3 scooters (Kimco?) in front of the scooter dealership here in Uxbridge.

Ok Jan, here's my scooter. Shot with the first roll through my Agfa Isolette with the Solinar lens. Agfa Portra expired film, which might account for the haze a the top of the shot.

I stopped by a gas station in Albany to top off my electric EVT 4000e, but they were out at the moment.

Jon, wow! Electric! Sure doesn't look electric. I was expecting something looking less substantial. I like it. What is the make and how far can you go on a charge??

My scooters and a shooter-

#1 is a Stella (LML Star outside the US) basically a Vespa PX
#2 is my 1977 Moto Guzzi LeMans-long time favorite.
#3 my iiif

Clevername: that is one futuristic looking scooter. Like something from the Jetsons. Very cool.

aad: that Stella is one sweet retro-looking scooter. I love it very hip.

Jon: 45 mph from an electric scooter! that's crazy. I can see this now. A silent streak blows past a car and the driver does a double take as you make a turn and go out of sight he wonders if he really saw you. LOL

I'm starting to get 'scooter envy' hope I don't go crazy and start looking for something new.

cheers, Jan

It is very cool to go rolling along conpletely quietly. I have scooter envy already about the new model. But zipping along the street at 25mph under electronic power is really fast enough for me.

I had a MZ (and later CZ) loaded up like that for touring Pitxu.

Great, reliable but they vibrate like hell.

Let's see if I can find a pic of my monkey bike.

I've been riding a Vespa for over two years now and shooting as I go, mostly with a digital camera of some sort but have wanted to shoot more black and white film on rides.

The picture taken on this particular day last July illustrates my priorities when it comes to scooters and cameras.

I was making this picture and didn't like the placement of the scooter. I walk over and set my Nikon D200 with a 28-70 2.8 Nikon zoom lens on the seat while I move the Vespa.

Notice the front wheel near the edge of the pavement.

I push the scooter off the centerstand and the weight shifts backwards a bit. The front wheel drops off the edge with a bounce and the camera starts to move on the seat.

I hesitate a moment processing what's happening and the front wheel turns a bit and the Vespa starts to lean away from me. The camera moves faster towards the edge of the seat and the Vespa continues earthwards. My brain says "pick one".

It's either the camera or the scooter, one of them is going to drop. I choose the camera, release my grip on the seat rail and grab the strap as the Vespa moves out from under the camera.

As with all motorcycle drops the first thing a good rider does is look around to see if anyone has witnessed the event.

Anyways, the scooter bears a small scar from the day and I learned to not set my camera on the seat when the scooter is moving.
