The regular push-on filters for the FED-1 and Zorki-1 are somewhat cumbersome, as you have to remove them in order to (re)set the aperture. There is, however, a thread right next to the edge of the lens.
Does anyone use this thread to screw in a filter?
What is the thread size (rather tiny, looks like a 19 or 20 mm?).
BTW, I'm really enjoying shooting with my Zorki-1 and FED-1. You just put them in your jacket pocket (in a small plastic bag, for protection against dust and lint) and go! And then: the funny faces some people make when they see the camera....

On the Zorki-1, it's an Industar-50 1:3,5, and on the FED-1 it's a standard FED 1:3,5.

yea I see that thread on mine too..looks really small and can't say that I have seen any advertised n Ebay or wherever..maybe telescope eyepiece filters may come in small sizes.I believe telescope users use filters too,to improve contrast when viewing..it's a thought yea?

Don't know what the thread size is on the I-22 or I-50. Ive never seen anything but clamp-on filters for those lenses. Maybe some screw-ons were made but I've never seen any reference to a Russian model. They may have included the threads because the Leica lens had them.

Thread is there so you can remove the front element of the lens by unscrewing the black ring with the notches in..yep?..never intented as a thread for filters I suspect, but getting one that may fit would be useful.

I figured it would be a "construction" thread. To complicate things: the thread is not straight but narrows down a bit. Screw-in filter threads usually are straight.

I i think those are 21.5mm threads. I dont know that they were intended for filters only lens removal/assembly. However, I found an old Ednalite filter adaptor that says 19-23.5 mm on it and it screws right in! Its a series 4 though ,but it doesnt vignette. Ive seen the thread size listed somewhere.................

My physics teacher at school had a fixed lens Leica with a tiny filter on the front. I can't remember who made it.

I found them. For the Leica Elmar 1:3,5 50 mm collapsible lenses, and for the Argus C3. They should fit on the Russian copy-Elmar as well. Apparently, these are 19 mm filters.
