I'm pretty new to leica. recently I bought M7 and want to try old leica lens.
especially, summarit 50mm in my mind. I realize it is screw mount.
What kind of adapter should I buy ?

you can get a 50mm screw mount adapter from CameraQuest.com. I have one for 35mm and 50mm and they work perfectly.

I would get either a genuine Leica one or a Voightlander one. There are many "cheap" ones from the Far East but many of these will cause focus problems.

One brings up 35/135 frames
One brings up 50/75 frames
One brings up 90/28 frames
As long as the FIRST number (35-50-90) appears, that's all you need to know about (some older adapters have only one number, others have unexpected numbers such as 21).
All I have tried give good focus. Not all lock securely on all bodies -- and this includes some old Leica adaptors on Leica bodies.
In Shutterbug for August there's a report of how I tried 24 lenses on an M8. All right, not an M7, but you might still find it entertaining.
Cheers,
Roger

I own an original Leitz LTM adapter, mounted on the Summitar 50 mm f/ 2 . Is a very excellent piece of metal and work perfectly. I own also some Voitglaender and Marumi LTM adapters. All of them work very well, but the build quality is slightly inferior than the original Leitz LTM adapter.
Ciao.
