I've recently acquired an Asahiflex SLR, which has a sluggish/gummed up shutter. I'm trying to remove the top plate, but have found that this is much harder to do than it looks - there must be a trick to it?

When I took off the wind knob, the screw which is partially hidden beneath it fell right out. It was broken off in the camera body, and the head was only held in by the exposure counter under the wind knob. Weird. Well I try to remove the top plate screw that's next to the rewind knob - it turns about 1/4 turn, then gets tight. I've already bugged up the slot a bit trying to loosen it. Obviously I'm not the first person who has tried and failed to get into this camera.

Anybody have any idea what's going on? How do I remove this screw without breaking it? What's keeping it from turning?

Thank you.
