I have O gauge trains (good size lay out) and "weatherizing" locomotives and rolling stock has been the rage for awhile. I tried it once and decided I have no skill -:). Model RR aren't for kids. Spending over $1k for just a locomotive stuffs get more expensive than even Leica's.
 
In retirement I plan to build an N scale (small) layout in my small apartment.
I can't imagine "decorating" such tiny items; my eyes are not so good anymore.

Fortunately I won't need to add graffiti to my freight cars; I will model the 1950's.
I don't think aerosol cans of spray paint were commonly available in those days.
