hi there everyone. finally got my hands on new m8.
can someone please let me know which is the serial no. in the camera box (in the booklet) there are two stickers in there with barcodes or serials and i don't know which is the serial no. cause i can't read german!! iv guessed and added one of the string of no.s to "my products list" on the leica website and i still can't figure how to get my two free filters! is it cause i have the wrong serial down.
PLEASE HELP, SORRY FOR MY STUPIDITY IN ADVANCE IF ITS SIMPLE THOUGH
very happy so far. few niggly things annoy me though (exposure comp in the menu) not an mechanical button, and accidently knocking the self timer on, an missing shots because of it!!)

The serial number for the M8 is on the hot shoe.

For exposure compensation go to manual and use it like an M6. Much easier and quicker.

My M8.2 has a different serial number on the hot shoe than on the box. Apparently, someone at the factory misread an "8" and made a sticker that had a "5" in its place. At each stage of processing, ending with the dealer, the bar code on the box was scanned and the wrong serial number was recorded. As a result, I couldn't register the camera. Leica Germany had to correct the error before i could order the free filters. Errors do happen - check to make sure the number on the box is the same as on the hot shoe.

The same thing happened to me. I registered my camera with the number on the box but when I checked the hot shoe it was a different number. I guess I am going to have to straighten things out one of these days.My M8.2 has a different serial number on the hot shoe than on the box.
