Hi all, I have a nice Autocord that is a bit stiff in focusing. Can anybody recommend someone to cla an Autocord? thanks, john.

Hello Jbrubaker
I will second Karl for the Autocord, he just returned my second Autocord, a CDS model and it came out great, turnaround time a couple days andvery reasonable
Don

Can someone post his current contact info?
My Autocord is fine to focus indoors but outside when it's cold fuggetaboutit...
Also the film advance has recently developed a squeak.

Best to email him:
karlkathy99@gmail.com

My Autocord was purchased from a fellow RFF member who did his own CLA on the camera. Unfortunately, the focus was not set correctly. I sent it off to Karl, and he discovered that both the viewing and the taking lenses were off proper focus. Turnaround was less than 5 days. Now that camera is a real joy to use, instead of a disappointment.

Also, if your focusing is stiff, THEN DON'T USE THE CAMERA! The focusing lever is a brittle zinc alloy which will break if you force it.
A properly lubed Autocord focusing lever will glide easily back and forth. Stiff levers cause work hardening of the alloy, and eventually metal fatigue leads to a fracture.

Hi, I just joined this forum and also bought a Minolta Autocord (the export model from 1958-1960). Got it off of eBay for a good price. I saw this thread about service for this camera and suddenly got excited. Karl Bryan is within an hour of where I live. I'd like to have him run through my Autocord and possibly see if he can also replace the leatherette cover (I bought one also from eBay). I'm really excited to start using it, but want to make sure there isn't anything wrong with it.

Is the gmail address for Karl Bryan correct? I googled his name for camera repair and he is talked about on numerous forums and websites. The email address listed the most is @frontier.com.
