BTW I just got some info on the subject. The "W" in the factory number means wide angle ; the "S" means standard/ normal (50); and the "T" means Telephoto.

Pretty clever, huh?

Now if I could just find one for my 35/ 2 --same as 35/ 2.8 or 35/ 3.2.

Rather hard to find since they didn't make one "for" that lens. But the 35/2.8 & 50/1.8 round hood should work, according to Dante Stella. The rectangular hoods don't work in it, according to him. Hardly needs a hood, anyway.

There's a W-50, but that would be for the 35/1.5, which has a 48mm filter ring. There's no W-42 that we know of.

i don't want to be rude but i think bill is having a hard time believing any of us that there is no hood for that lens.

I tend to believe "expert" opinions, not guesses/ assumptions, especially if we're talking about 40 yr old stuff w/o definitive records from mfg.

I don't think any S prefix hood, i.e. the 50/ 1.8 shade wouldn't work; I've tried an S-60 for a 50/1.4 and got vignetting.

Thanks to all of you for your all your assumptions.

bill, we ARE the experts, it's guys like us that use these old cameras and read everything we can about them.

i didn't mean to be insulting but i was trying to lessen your frustration in finding things that are not out there.

Just thought I would mention that the correct hood for the 50/1.4 is the S-50, not 60.
