A bit of fun. Share the earliest picture of you taking a picture with a camera. Cheating allowed if it brings a smile e.g. baby photo of you holding a camera.

This is the earliest one I've got. Taken by my father when I was about 6 or 7. I was using a Brownie Six-20 Model C, which was probably loaded with Verichrome Pan 620. My father probably thought it more flattering to photograph me OOF:

Well, it's not really me - it's my schoolmate with Smena 8m trying to cross the river :) (I took the photo - also using Smena 8m). The film was so scratched.... :) Back in time I knew little about the proper archiving of negatives...

I should have some pictures of myself (mirror selfies), but need to dig deeper...

I think the scratches add to it! Lends authenticity :)

Lynn,

That is amazing... partly because you have them! We never had more than one Brownie (a 620) when we were kids. It was expensive for my parents to buy and use so we were not allowed to "play with" it. My father was the one who took pictures, with a unique style putting his finger or thumb in front of the lens to completely screw up an image. 90% of the time!:):):)

I hope others will post their images but I bet they will have to put some effort into finding them! Either that or use a "Wayback Machine"!:)

Here you go Lynn, a photo taken by my sister-in-law Frances on Australia's Highway One to Broome in 1978. I am also not sharp, but my memory can bring into focus that my camera at the time was a Yashica TL Electro with Yashinon 50/1.9. Sadly I don't have any photos of me using my first camera, a Kodak Instamatic in 1965.

Not too many, I hope:

At approximately 11:

Then, for fun, the same guy at 18:

And at 30, at his desk in the newsroom:

An early and permanent association with RF/VF cameras.

Finally, the 18 year old vs the 66 year old, the last shot a couple of years ago:

Well, this is fun. Guessing that most here first used a camera under age 10, but won't have a photographic record of that until their late teens when they got their first “real” camera and a mirror. Am pretty sure that’s what mine is if I can find it. Dad took a lot of pictures, and was my inspiration, but I don’t think he ever took one of me with a camera.
Will be great to see what others come up with.

It’s not me, but my son who’s almost two found my stash of canon rangefinders under our bed today!

The camera is a Practika BMS loaded with ektachrome Elite. Still have those slides (somewhere).

Here's one of my oldest son taken almost 8 years ago with him holding ... a Brownie Target Six-20!
