I would have expected it to say "Leica M-P" but then again it is more or less the same camera. But just to be on the safe side.

Ok I'm going to answer myself here for future reference. Just got a response from Leica Customer Care saying...
"Please note: it is normal that the EXIF data says “M (Typ 240)”. Both cameras are using the same sensor. That’s why it is recognized as an Leica M not M-P."
