Snorting silver salts
Recently I got lucky in buying a 6x9 pre-war Bessa RF with a Heliar 105/3.5.
Since I am curious about what to expect from a Heliar, I thought I'd ask here.
To me, the MF and LF Heliars shots are the most interesting ones, feel free to post any Heliar shot, as long as the lens type and mount are included with your post.

Do you want shot from a "real" Heliar, I.E. old ones or new Cosina-made Heliars Ok too?

Well, for me I'd like to see 'true' Heliars, but I reckon the Cosina 35mm Heliars will be very interesting to a number of RFF members as well, so bring them both on

Do you want to include as well the Mamiya 105mm f/3.5 DS for the Cxxx TLR series, which is also of a Heliar design? I got some...

If you're looking for Heliar RF photos, look also
at images from the Kodak Medalist, a 6x9 RF
with a 100/3.5 Heliar-design lens. It is not a
folder so the lens stays precisely aligned with
the film plane and delivers stunning work. I
shoot one from time to time.

Hi Sanders, I did not know the Medalist lens was a Heliar design. Double luck for me: I found myself a Bessa RF with a Color-Heliar and won a Medalist on eBay last week.

I have often looked at Medalist shots with a great deal of admiration; Sanders you use it so well.
It's unfortunate that it's such an ugly camera! But some day I'll probably pick one up from a flea market or similar.

Isn't the Medalist equipped with an Ektar lens? Is that similar to the Heliar design?

Yep, the 100/3.5 Ektar on the Medalist is based on the Heliar design.

Too far near the bottom of the learning curve-couldn't figure how to get a decent-sized version, much less upright! Sorry.

6x9 and be there!
A few pictures from little known "Heliar" lenses. First, the single coated Takumar 58/2.4:
Then the SMC Takumar 100/4 Macro :
And, last but not least, the original uncoated Heliar on my Bessa RF:
To say the least, the Heliar is capable of rendering beautiful tones, with silky smooth out of focus backgrounds...
Cheers!
