Show Your RF Still Lifes

I've just done these, of a Christmas gift from our daughter. Not sure which I prefer, so you're getting both!

But I would like contributions from other members - yes, you!

I like the genre of Still Life paintings and drawings, but avoid imitating them with a camera. There is something unique about a photographic Still Life. Here I used my favourite camera, the Leica Monochrom Typ 246, with the Voigtlander Nokton 75mm F1.5, with natural sunlight from a big window behind me, mixing with the overhead light in the centre of the room. The full-size versions show sharper focus, but I like soft focus too.

Red Poppies in a planter down by the edge of the Columbia here in town (Astoria, OR). Although there is a lot of dope consumed inthis town I doubt these are opium Poppies.

And this one. A favorite meal of mine at the New Garden Asian Cuisine in Seaside, Spicy Tofu (香辣豆腐). The dish is simple, spicy deep fried tofu. But it is soft, the tofu inside and crispy, the tofu outside, spicy and the mild string beans. It is just a simple dish that is hard to make really well. These folks make it really well.

Every time I look at their food I think, "Why didn't I eat there today?"

I post this again because I like it too much. Leica M9 + Cooke Amotal 2" f/2.0. Deliberately underexposed one stop, shot at f/4.0. It is from my annual trek across the river to Washington for the Rhodie blooms at Fort Columbia State Park.

The charm of this lens is that while it is sharp and resolves the detail of the pistils and the slight residual pink hues of the blooms themselves it also has a luminescent glow to the images which is known as the "Cooke Look." Learned about this lens here on RFF. Yes, I really treasure this lens.

It resolves well in the sunlight, too. Again, M9 +Cooke Amotal and some lovely daisies in Oysterville, WA. A close look reveals water droplets on the blooms.
