shutter problem

I just obtained a CLE kit at a bargain price - the camera surely is a joy to handle with - but there seems to be some problem with the shutter.

When testing, the shutter fires accurately with the film chamber opened; however it seems to be some 2 to 3 stops slower with film installed, and a lot more slower without the film.

That is, if my meter reads a 1/30s (which I found out to be accurate comparing to my other cameras' meters), the shutter goes right at 1/30s with the film chamber open, and it's like 1/8s when I put a roll of film in, some 3 seconds without the film.

In manual mode every stop fires accurately. I understand that the CLE uses a sophisticated OTF metering system...but am I still missing something here? Thanks.

Read down through some of the CLE threads here. The metering system is designed to read off the film plane -- if there's no film in the camera it sets the exposure for the shiny black pressure plate.

Are you having problems with actual exposures on film? The CLE doesn't like testing.
