well - I got out to shoot a little during lunch today, I think for the 15 minutes where the sun is still out
The sound of the SP shutter is so sweet, and the winding so smooth

by the way - does anyone have a better lens cap for the millenium 50mm 1.4 re-issue than the included pin style - it's not very secure in the bag...

Must be cloth, the metal is that bit "metallic" in sound, perhaps why they used cloth in the re-issues?

It's the titanium shutter
Very quiet - the final sound is this little double tap, like a ball bearing bouncing once or twice
Not the firm "bam , I'm done" like the mirror of the slr
Anyway - shutter therapy continued this morning
The guy will the funny looking retro camera with no LCD back on the train platform, that was me

If you have the titanium shutter, I wouldn't even bother w/a lens cap (assuming you have a hood). Modern lens coatings are very durable (the hood protects against major impacts) & unless you're shooting in extreme conditions (desert sand, welding sparks, etc.), it's not that difficult to keep the front clean enough to shoot. The only time I used lens caps in the field was to prevent myself from accidentally burning holes in the shutter on sunny days (happened to my M7 once), but I've found it's easier to just remember to stop down to f/16 & keep lenses pointed away from the sun.

The lens cap is mostly for protecting the front element in the bag
I don't use the beautiful Nikon lens hood because it has a tendency to detach

I use a generic tapered vented 43mm screw-in lens hood (like this, no endorsement of this particular seller intended, http://www.ebay.com/itm/Metal-Vente...d-Leica-Samsung-Panasonic-MH-43-/272113367803
). Looks good (to me) & works to protect the front element (in & out of a bag), too. Also stays on the lens & doesn't obstruct the VF as much as the Nikon hood (I've never taken mine out of the plastic baggie). BTW, the filter thread on the 50/1.5 Millennium "Olympic" is modern pitch, so it's easier w/modern filters, etc. (opposite is true of the vintage lenses).
