Will the Sigma 19 and 30mm lenses be upgradable to take advantage of Phase Detect AF in the new Sony NEX-6? If yes, is this a firmware or a hardware upgrade (does the lens have to be sent in).
Answer received (and quicker than I expected)
Yes if the upgrade is available for sony body then the lens should work with it. An upgrade to the lens is a firmware update and needs to be done in a service center. It will also be covered under warranty.
So, if I'm reading the response right, a trip to Sigma and the lenses can be upgraded! This is good news. I'll try to get confirmation from the Canadian rep as well.
