Hi... I took my DP1 out of my backpack and wanted to switch it on, but nothing happened execpt there is a short quietly sound. Furthermore, the lens is already extended. Maybe that's the problem? I changed the battery, but it didn't help. Any ideas?

Warranty is a year I believe.

If the warranty is still in effect sending it to Sigma would be my first step. Otherwise it depends on how much you have invested and the age of it.

Instead of sending it, you could just pop 'round to Rödermark, not too far from Frankfurt, is it? - from what I know, Sigma staff there is very helpful.

Ok, thanks to far. It's a second hand buy and at the moment, I'm in contact with the original buyer. From what I read so far, the lens mechanism is a weak point of the DP1. I don't know what really happened to the camera, especially as the lens was protected by the sun hood.
@ Uwe: You're right. Is it possible to get directly in contact with Sigma's repair shop?

Ok, I sent the DP1 four weeks ago to Sigma Germany. Yesterday I got I package with a temporary replacement DP1, because my DP1 is sent to Japan for repair. Must be a serious defect...? I read on serveral internet sites that a repair can take up to 2-3 months... Anyway, here are some snapshots I made with the replacement camera.
