I'm torn

I like the speed of the 40 but am concerned about the framing - I like the size of the 35 but am concerned about the (relative) slowness.

Anyone used both and end up much preferring one over the other. I've flickr'ed both and some nice results from both. Skopar does seem to have a very 'strong' look to it, but then so does f1.4

Apologies if this is a fairly lame quandary....I suspect it is really....:bang:

Thanks for your patience

I'm used to the 40 framing now. But I wear glasses and can only just see the 35mm frames, so I look through and use what I can see. You're not going to get SLR accurate framing with the Skopar and 35mm lines anyway.

I'd go for the 40 if I had to choose, I have both and that's what I would do if I sold one.

I have both (the 40 gets used with my CLE mostly), but if I were in your position I'd go for the 35 Nokton Classic instead.

That said, I wouldn't let the speed thing put you off the Skopar. Unlike the Nokton it delivers excellent performance right from the maximum aperture – the Nokton really only hits its stride after f2 (I view the maximum aperture on the Nokton either as an 'emergency' or artistic option, rather than a genuinely usable position).
