What the heck is this?
Russian camera Snejinka
I know it's not a RF, but I don't know where to ask if not here. The two buttons on the back says "shutter" (3ATBOP) and something about film rewind or film use on the second one, I couldn't find a perfect translation. I can't find anything in the archives or on Google...
This one was pretty cool too, you can't blame Ivan for not being innovative!

The other button says "ready to shoot"
Looks like some sort of custom specialised camera, looks pretty bulletproof!

Whoa... interesting. Got to be more to that than shown. No VF of any kind makes me think it is built to attach to something else (for arial photos, underwater shots, something in a lab, or in a factory, etc.). The tab on the focus ring(?) looks like a longer handle could be attached/screwed in. Precise measurements there too. Looking into the back of it, I'm wondering if film is hand wound completely out of it's cannister and reeled back into the cannister by motor as pictures are taken...?
What I can see...
...it's very stylish - if you're a bricklayer.
...it's not a "vest-pocket" something.
...it will cost me 150 smackers to see what's in that green bag.
Good find, EmilGil !!
Hope you learn more. Post if you do.

Looks like the xray camera at the dentist's. (Well, not MY dentist's, but, you know...)

those things on the back are actually not buttons, theyre lights
so one is "shutter" another "ready to shoot"
What looks like a knob wind on the bottom, is actually a cable connection cover.
This is one heck of a mystery

Mental Experimental.
Looks to me like some kind of a medium format box camera that takes Jupiter lenses...of some mount. It's strange.

I'm wondering if it is some aerospace paraphernalia left over from the70's- It looks like it would fight right in on the the old Mir spacestation.

Just located this out of Brasil, but it has no text associated with the images-

I'll admit I have become slightly obsessed with this thing.
I've imagined another use for it- a periscope camera

Yep, with it's hefty build, I was thinking something naval or air force myself. Great link too, Fedzilla. Some straaaange gadgets on that site.Fedzilla_Bob said:I'll admit I have become slightly obsessed with this thing.

I noticed that the ebay images were the same as those from the site in Brazil.
I wish a half meter rule had been place next to the camera. It appears to be about 150 to 200 mm per side.

It could be an Aero camera.

Yeah, same images and you're right FBob, it's gotta be a hefty mama. Looking at the thickness of the of the removed back, there's some serious metal there. I know Zorki.4s make a good doorstop, but this is rediculous.
So the cable connection on the bottom implies remote use and [if indeed] it has two motors... the motor... whadda ya figure there? Film advance only? Focusing maybe? Smoothie blender?
Periscope camera might be a pretty good guess.

But how would the 135mm lens play out in a periscope?

Yeah, I figured the "L" got dropped accidently. Humorous name considering it's heft.Natalia said:In Russian the word means a "snowflake".....

I was guessing based on the case and the round tube that surrounds the lens. Not sure why.CVBLZ4 said:But how would the 135mm lens play out in a periscope?
It says an m39 mount, I believe its the same as an old exacta lens. So, more than one focal length could be used.
Use in an aircraft is more likely.

I can't imagine it being used in an aircraft. The FSU is just as liklely to use large format as everybody else. The M39 is the standard Leica mount and it is really just an ordinary 35 with motors and in a case made to stand abuse. My bet is that is is made to automatically record industrial processes, a production line perhaps?
