i like black cameras as much as the next guy but i've seen some outrageous prices on black canonets and i just don't get it.
i hear the black & chrome ones are 'almost' as good and 'nearly' as sharp as the black ones.

yeah, I guess from a collectors point....they are worth more cause less were sold.

It's astounding to watch at times. Last week I watched as the bidding went up on a little black Ricoh 500GM (with attached wind-up motor drive) climbed higher. It finally went for over $150usd.
And I'll bet the pics from it won't be any sharper than the Ricoh 500G I got for under $30 - LOL.
Sadly it'll just sit on a shelf in someones glass case too.

I wish I had seen this. It would look nice next to the black QL17 GIII, 35CC, S3, 35ES, Kiev 4a, and R2 I have. 
Not sure I would have paid that price though, but it would have been fun bidding on it for awhile!

Ok, ok, I went up to 155.00 on it. Its the cool factor. The other guy and I were bidding each other out when a sniper came in the last 10 seconds and grabbed it.
I should be getting my Oly 35 SPn today. I was shocked that I got it for 116. Its the "n" version and now the SP versions are going for a lot more.
So I too am accused of over paying....for the cool factor.:bang:

I have never used a sniping program, but in all honesty, the most effective and cheapest way to win an ebay auction is to put in your absolute maximum bid in the last minute or two. It avoids all the macho bidding wars and does not give people enough time to incrimentally up the bid to see if they can get higher than you. It's just like a real auction: Going once, going twice...1 Million Dollars...SOLD to the chap in the boxer shorts holding the M3.
I had an odd bidding experience last week... A dealer had 10 rolls of unknown-dated Kodak 400 B&W APS-size film on auction. I put in the first bid of $16.05 and of course the sale amount stayed at $0.99. I hoped I might actually get it for that...
Then a couple days later the sale amount went up to $16.55 as someone outbid me. Ok, so be it; I did not bid again.
Today I got an eBay email advising that the sale had either been rejected by the bid winner or the seller had an additional package of the same item available at my bid price. I did wonder if it were not legitimate, but it did seem to be. The selling dealer has an 800 number, and I completed payment that way, so it should be ok.
I've never used a sniping program, but it is kinda fun to get all lined up to do it manually.
