no great art but the camera works!
i found i missed a few shots not being familiar with the controls. my finger kept getting in the way of the window so the rf patch was gone.
my framing was waaay off with a couple of shots, missing either bottom or side bits that i thought i had included.
i also tried some kodak portra b&w c41. after only one roll i don't like it much so far. contrast seems lower than xp2. of course it was dumb to try a new film with an unknown lens (jupiter 8m)

Nice to see it works well. I hope you're enjoying the Kievside...
So do you feel the need for a Jupiter 12 yet? If so, PM me - I've got one for cheap.

35mm/2.8 ... it's a nice lens optically, it could use a relube job but is fully usable. I got it for like $15+shipping so I'm not needing much out of it. Or, I'm always looking for yellow filters (49 or 43mm) ...

i happen to have a red filter in 43mm but no yellow.
actually i have 2.
a nice hoya with black rim and a gorgeous kenko with a chrome rim, i think it older but very nice.
tempted?
my only 49mm is a vivitar uv/haze.
i could throw it in with one of the reds...

Sounds good. It's been a while since I've done the heavy contrast of a Red - maybe with my SC Skopar 35/2.5, that red and a landscape in late winter... Mmmm. I like that thought.
PM me your address again, I'm not sure i still have it.

i knew oscar would comment on this!
ok, so i have already changed from what i previously said about getting another lens.
but oscar, i didn't need 2 red 43mm filters or that 49mm uv filter either.
and william had this poor 35/2.8 just collecting dust...
i just picked up one of the ps and dry fired a shot.
the feeling was electric, like when you first kiss a lovely freckled red haired woman.
ok, maybe not EXACTLY like that...but the p has nothing to worry about.

Joe, GET William's J12, the Brian in me is now saying this to you, SERIOUSLY

"like when you first kiss a lovely freckled red haired woman"
LOL ! One must be careful with what's said here, some moderators have very good memory

Joe, what's going on? You've got the Kiev, now more lenses...then, you've put your eye on that black yashica GT too... and the canonet...

the small rf is for a friend at work.
i promised her i could find something nice and one to grow with for around 50 bucks.

you should go with the canonet then. It's not that the yashica is aperture priority only - the problem is, there's no indication whatsoever of the shutter speed he selectwill , except the "too slow" and "too fast" lamps.

good points.
i have not heard back re. the canonet yet.

Joe, yep, you'll NEED that Jupiter-12! Nice 2.8/35mm with very protruding rear element, vulnerable to damage so be careful! Here's a shot pretty much backlit showing the lens's resistance to flare. Ilford XP1 at 400 with 1-stop push I think, Kiev 4a. Not edited except to rotate 2-deg right and resize.
The house had just been trucked to that location some 10 miles from its original place in town right across the street from me. Then I got interested in that zigzaggy fence line...

"and as far as memory goes, i remember every red head i have ever me"
they are hard to forget, aren't they ?
I've had a love-hate story with my... J12, sometimes I've found it to be incredibly susceptible to flare when used in side lighting conditions, mine is a black Olegized one, from 1989 I think. Some other times I've simply loved the results, well I guess it's the 'old vs. new' lens story
Both have their good and bad points.
Nice shot Doug !
