Guys, I thought you'd be interested:

A dealer in Australia (Queensland, it seems), has just posted a bunch of old stuff on ebay. Including:

Frank, how is the lens on the Nettar? I'm looking for 120 folder with an excellent lens. So many choices, but no knowledge of the lens quality.
 
Because these cameras are so old and because of their construction (folding) I think the variation between specific cameras and their specific histories, plays a greater role in the quality of results they produce than the design of their lens. Having said that, the theoretical performance of a lens increases with the number of elements. (triplets perform more poorly than Tessars, etc,) You wouldn't want to have to make more than 3x enlargements with many of the very old folders, they weren't designed to offer that kind of performance. People in those days just didn't make much more than contact prints with cameras like that. They were the snapshot camera of their day. Beginning in the 1950's, or even earlier, technology from the war was applied to consumer products (specifically lens coating) and performance increased. Agfa, Voightlander (sp?) and Zeiss made great folders. I also have an Ensgn Selfix 820 6by9 folder with Ross Expres lens that performs very well. (It's for sale!)
 
Why didn't anyone tell me about this site before.... I could have spent far more money if I had. I found it while looking for info on the Selfix 820, thanks to FrankS!!

It a great collection of technical info and photo samples from a very large variety of classic cameras. Having found it could be expensive!

If you want an excellent folder with an exquisite lens, you might want to check out an Iskra. I've been extremely pleased with the one I bought from www.fedka.com It's a 75mm tessar that is one of the most amazing lenses I've ever used.
