The last five or six weeks have been very, umm, trying(not the first expression but pg-13) for me.
It's been HOT here and even hotter in my kitchen(~120 deg. F)
Missed the NYC gathering.
Have trained and then let go 6 or 7 dishwashers.
My personal life is almost non-existant.
The one guy at the local one-hour lab that actually knows any thing about photography has relocated.
The wait staff has been making repeated dumb mistakes and isn't responding to any corrections(gentle reminders, not so gentle reminders, anything at all--in fact two of them have decided they are RIGHT and I[who make the method] don't know what I am talking about).
The woman who owns the restaurant has decided to sell. I'm not interested in buying(couldn't anyway) and new owners sometimes decide to clean house--no immediate concern there but some clouds on the horizon.
I decide to take Saturday (23,July) off as one of my brothers is coming home from Pakistan(he's admin for some NGO) for a visit. That's a plus! Saturday morning I get a call from the owner"Sorry to ask but Jim--another cook--has cut himself and I need you to work" I go in and just as I finishing my coffe before starting, Jim comes back, ready to work with one finger heavily bandaged. I literally run to my car and make the short drive to my folks house--and their pool!
Another plus!
Hey! Things are getting better! I get an invitation to Chance(my brother) and Renata's wedding. Cool! In Croatia. Next spring or early summer(no final date yet)!
Way cool!
On my way home I stop at the smoke shop/magazine store to pick up smokes and a newspaper and the young woman who works there while she's getting a secondary education teaching degree, thanks me for the advice I gave her about a camera to take on vacation. She didn't want to use my Olympus stylus but opted instead for some disposable waterproof cameras instead. I have been flirting shamelessly with her for a while and she flirted back but had a boyfriend. Key word there"had". I have the use of my folks secluded house and pool next week end while they go off to hear some opera. I ask if she wants to come with me and swim and relax for a day. And have something good for dinner.
"Well I was going to let you have this camera so you could finish the roll--Just some pictures I took at home to see if it really was waterproof but I'll bring it with me instead. Should I bring some wine? Nobody can see the pool can they?"
Now, I could be wrong here but I think I'm going to have some photos I can't post to my gallery.
Even if I'm misreading this, I'll still get a day of relaxation with a smart stunning woman and ,maybe not best but pretty dern good, I get no signal on my cell phone when I'm at the folks house!
YEEHAA!!
Yep, life is pretty good occasionally!

Yeah, well, in my experience, when life suddenly gets all nice like that, what it's really doing is setting you up for a left hook to the jaw.

But that's just me. Good luck with it.

OK, so worst case scenario: The woman's favorite movie is "Fatal Attraction", my folks decide to come home early(ODG--I haven't said or worried about that for twenty some years), and homeland security want to ask me about the pictures in the camera.
STILL worth it AND this week at work will be waaay less annoying while I contemplate, umm, the food I'll be cooking.
I'll still be doing a happy dance when no one's looking! :D

Rob: Don't let jlw rain on your parade... just have a great time! I really hate it when someone tries (even unwittingly) to deflate my joy.

That's the worst case you can think of?!? To assist your imagination, two words: "ex-boyfriend" and "chainsaw."

...C'mon, you know I've just been kidding you, right?

Parade? Man I love a parade! This week just gets better!

That's not the worst I can think of but its the worst I cared to state out loud :D
And "ex-boyfriend" and "chainsaw"--still depends on his timing :D

joe, I'm 45 so this isn't quite new, but I also have been trying to remember back(cue swirly flashback effect) :D

A glorious day! The plan came together beautifully!
Great company, pretty good eats and no one said even once"Don't point that thing at me." :D
The people I work with are going to wonder what the heck is wrong with me if I don't stop smiling!
Of course, if they think the little guy with the big knife is psychotic, maybe they will actually do what I ask them to do.
