Sonnar 50/1.5

still waiting.

sounds like it will be about 900 to 1200 but i can't remember where that came from.

I'm almost positive that Tony Rose said its going to be around $950, but don't quote me on that. Also, I seem to remember the discussion indicating that it will be out around October, but again, thats not the official word.

btw, this is light off topic, but I have checked 35mm sumilux recently in leica store and I have to say I did not liked the build and ergonomics of it :( strangly enough I think zeiss are much much much better build and all.. to bad though I want top noch fast 35mm.

Nachkebia, really? What especially did make you feel, the Summilux' ergonomics and build-quality would be inferior? I think, the Leica-lenses are built absolutely great and feel as nice as the Zeiss ones. So I really don't see much of a difference between the two. I especially adore the Zeiss Ikon system, 'cause Zeiss offers products that are equally built than Leica's and also are on par when it comes to optical performance, but for much less money. This is absolutely fantastic and I don't care at all, that the outstanding Zeiss products are partially built by Cosina (after plans of and under control of Zeiss), 'cause it matters what comes out at the end and this isn't inferior to Leica's products.

Just a bit of rave about my beloved Zeiss Ikon. ;)

What I did not like was the focusing ring that was plain and very hard to rotate, also the aperture ring which was also plain, also it was huge and it had huge hood :) when i played around with focus and aperture ring it was that smooth and solid as it is on my zeiss, maybe it was a bad copy.

Robert White have just quoted me £550 excluding VAT (UK sales tax @17.5%:( ) for the 50mm f1.5 Sonnar. Available September '06.
