Just received my £100 new/old A390 body-perfect condition, little used .. many will understand why as Sony simply updated an ancient sensor 1st seen in 2008 .

Oddly the A290 etc lasted just a year - mid 2010-mid 2011 when Sony pulled the plug on the DSLR . Stop gap they must have been.

Crazy, but I quite like the handling and basic simplicity.
[ Won't be abandoning the M8 and Digilux 3 though .]

I say body because it arrived with a Sony 18-70 and Tamron 100-300 which , by reputation , make the 18-55 kit lens seem like perfection.

Fear not , I have been training up an excellent , by comparison Minolta 35-80 ' beer-can' on the A290 for it's role in making the A390 more acceptable .

Here the rot sets in - I have been playing with the additional toys - ilve view and both waist level and overhead finder and the purity of the plain A290 optical viewfinder is tainted .

Soon I may actually use movie-mode on the A35 ... which is a decent camera with an annoying EVF.

Seriously , it suits me with the 35-70 [ nom 52-105 ] and is a camera and 'free from film days' lens which I can safely leave in the car .

My toe-in-the-waters of digital is my a200 and Maxxum glass I've had since the late '80s. I added the 18-55 when I got paranoid about frequent lens changes. It's fun to shoot, but my results have been spotty.
Currently shooting Nikon F with Nikkor-HC 50mm f2 and Plus-X from Photo Warehouse.

Results are a touch hit and miss with the A290 , but better if I just use manual exposure and stick to one lens - Minolta 35-70 f4 or 35-70 f3.5/5.6 .
