soviet camera - good seller ?

I can't dee-cide .

I love my Oleg Kiev 4 and 4m , which fixated me on these magnificent cameras , so I kinda aquired one or two more ... Kiev 2 / 2x kiev 3 / Kiev 2a , not so good ...

but I have calmed down a bit , hoping that ''emma , the M 8 '' would blow away the Red mist ... but , alas no - if anything , being able to see instant results from my attempts , I am more confident to use my film cameras for slides ... which is good ... I think ...

I can have a Kiev 2 or Kiev 3 , cla in UK for £80 , - both are cosmetically lovely and work smoothly and quietly ...

... or I can buy a Kiev 2 for about the same outlay , cla / 3 month warranty from soviet camera ... or a fair condition , cla , warranty , kiev 3 for about $125 with shipping .

I know it's unusual , but I like the reasurance of the meter , and have no problems with the look of the Kiev 3 - so I am tempted to buy from soviet camera .

BUT - they do not seem to sell many - the site seems frozen in time - yet an e-mail of 3 months ago DID get a response - [ He was advising an early Kiev 4 / 4a for general use , rather than a Kiev 3 / 3a , 'cos it's younger , and apparently most Kiev 4 s had light useage ? ] - maybe he buys in the non-workers and fixes them ? !

The kIev 4 cameras are just $80 with shipping - again cla etc ...

I am thinking -

Kiev 3 , cla , from soviet camera .

Then , my Kiev 2 cla locally , 'cos they are getting expensive to find now [ mine was $ 90 ]

Any comments on the very quiet soviet camera ?

I think they are all enjoyable especially if you have good working ones. And I don`t want to limit or restrict myself to just the Kievs. I like my Kiev but it feels somewhat tinney when compared to my Zorki`s and Feds.

My Zorki 2C is probably my smoothest camera I have . It`s a bottom loader but that`s no problem for me.
Actually I enjoy them all.

Do you mean Sovietcamera.com.ua? (Vikenty Trofimov).
He has been in business for a good few years. I bought a few cameras from him when he used to sell on Ebay. He was definitely one of the best sellers. He gave up Ebay some years ago and now prefers to sell fewer cameras at higher prices from his Internet site. He also offers a repair service that I have used. I would buy from him if he had something I wanted at the right price.
