Has anyone been following the price SP 2005 kits with the 35mm f/1.8 are selling for? I looked on ebay and saw a few kits priced "sell it now" for between $3K and $6K, but nothing listed as actually sold. Not surprising given the limiten number of these cameras produced. Any thoughts?

Doug,

There was a boxed one available at Sedadel Studios (RFF Sponsor) a few weeks ago. Pretty much an unused camera sold as new and the price was about $4.5K. It didn't last too long and is now sold.

There's no need to pay that amount of money for what you want. I did a search for Sold listings on Ebay and found the following items that sold recently for far less than $3K-$6K:

SP 2005 with 4 lenses including the 35mm f/1.8 - $2,113.81
SP 2005 with 5cm f/1.4 - $1,249
35mm f/1.8 lens only - $899.99 from Roberts Camera with 6 mo warranty
35mm f/1.8 lens only - $749.99

It appears that the SP 2005 is more often bundled with the 5cm f/1.4 than the 35mm f/1.8 but you could always buy the camera and lens separately.

Okay, but were these the reissue lenses?

Seems like SP 2005 cameras lose a lot of value separated from their matched lens.

Mine is certainly not leaving my hands.

I looked this up because I was curious at the really low price, but please note 1) it's not a 2005 reissue and 2) it's a 3.5cm f/2.5.

Totally not applicable.

Actually neither of your examples are for Nikon SP 2005 reissue cameras.

I agree that there would be a premium on having the new reissue lens. For one thing: multicoating.

I own a 35/1.8 Nikkor in LTM. What a great lens.

Great catch! My aging eyes did not notice that one of the lenses included in that sale was a 3.5cm f/2.5. Please forgive me for my "totally not applicable" error. I actually have a 35mm f/2.5 lens for my Nikonos V which I used when I was shooting with that camera underwater. It's my understanding that the 35mm f/2.5 lens for my Nikonos V is a derivative of the 3.5cm f/2.5 Nikon rangefinder lens.

Was the OP specifically asking for a Nikon SP 2005 reissue camera? I did not see that in his post, but perhaps I'm missing something.

I saw the 2005 SP from Sedadel Studios on EBAY, but not on their site. $4495.00.

???

Not sure how important the boxes, hood or never-ready case are to you. If not there are two cameras from Japan that look interesting for about $3.2K and $3.5K.

Sp2005

The gem of the kit is the multicoated 35 f1.8
Then again many sp’s have dim rf spots or finder issues

You don’t need all the boxes / paperwork/ etc

I have seen just the body and lens in used condition for $3250
There was no front cap

That’s probably about the lowest you could get

None of these are the SP 2005 limited edition. The SP with 4 lenses for #2,113.81 is described in the ad as "SP from 1957 (serial is 6201935)". The SP with 5cm f/1.4 is SN6212782, also from the 50s. Both are chrome bodies (the SP 2005 was only made in black).

Thank you for the clarification. I now realize that the SP 2005 cameras I was quoting Ebay "Sold" prices are not what you are looking for.

Thank goodness, I have learned something today :D

In 2018, I paid $3250 for the open box Limited edition NIKON SP 2005 bundle. It includes everything. I've been tracking the Nikon SP 2005 on eBay for years. The cheapest one sold for around $2800 a few years ago. It's in used condition without the box, not collectible.

So I highly doubt the SP 2005 include the black paint 35 1.8 could be sold under $2000 even in used condition.

I think the fair market price for the complete SP 2005 set should be in the $3500 ~ $4500 range depends on its condition.

Ellen,

I should have first thanked you for taking the trouble to look up prices on ebay even if there was some misunderstanding. I appreciate your efforts as well as your work as moderator of this forum.

Ellen, the Nikon SP Limited Edition set (body and 35/1.8 lens) was reissued as 2500 sets in the year 2005. Hence the nickname "SP 2005" used on forums (Nikon has never used it themselves). More info on the head bartender's website here:

It's interesting that Nikon releasesd the SP 2005 with the 50 1.4 lens, and the S3 2000 with the 35 1.8, because those lenses actually work better on the opposing bodies due to the 'default' viewfinder frames.

Fixed it for you ;)

I have to say so many times I have been tempted by the S3 2000, especially in black, just cuz it is so freaking hot looking! SP 2005 aint bad either!

Yes, I'm a push over like that!

Thanks so much for the information about the Nikon SP Limited Edition set.
The link you provided has a lot of very useful and interesting information.

At one point, I was looking at buying a Nikon SP original camera with a titanium shutter but those plans fell through. I can certainly understand the OP's wish to have one of the reissued sets.

I bought my unused SP2005 set here at RFF classifieds a few months ago for 4000€. Now it´s not unused anymore, but actually showing first signs of brassing ;)
