I've received a PM (from a "member" with 0 posts) in response to a WTB I posted.

It's almost laughably obvious as a spam/scam, so I wondered if there is a mechanism for reporting this to the site admins - if they are interested, that is - ?

(I can't see a "report" button in the PM system similar to that in the main forums)

Not denying existence of scammers, I see you both received offer from same (supposedly) person. Do you both are looking same make/model of camera/lens - have you contacted KZPhoto?

the user in question has tried to scam several other members and has already been banned.

someone did, please see the link i gave at the end of my original post

that person's messages are identical down to the odd upper-case placement

I might be wrong, but...

The REAL Guy Mancuso is quite reputable. I think he is an ADMIN on GETDPI.

yes, i think that person pick up Mancuso's identity by registering an email account with the name+a number, that's easy and is convincing

and if the real Guy Mancuso joined the RFF and want to buy and sell here, i am sure he would say hello and chime in discussions to establish his presence first

I rarely even bother to reply to people who cannot string together a cohesive sentence, adequately spelled and punctuated. The other hint is that they never mention the item in question specifically. And of course the cherry is Moneygram/Western Union or bank transfer...

Everyone's alarm bells should be ringing right away.

Aren't bank transfer transactions more common in Europe?

Aren't bank transfer transactions more common in Europe?

Yes, they are. Because of the BIC/IBAN system, it's really easy to transfer funds between banks in the EU zone. Basically, you only need the other person's bank details and it's a fast and free payment between most banks.

That said, I certainly wouldn't consider accepting a bank transfer from what I assume would be some shady bank in Nigeria. And Western Union etc. is a direct red flag in combination with an outside-your-own-country buyer.

That's one of the reasons why I never sell outside my country. I'm sure there are some legitimate buyers in countries like Nigeria, but would you really want to take that chance? Not me.
