I am considering the purchase of a Q3 Monochrom.

I'm the type of person that puts a high quality UV filter on the front of every lens I buy the instant it comes out of the box and i don't take it off except in really exceptional circumstances. I know there are plenty of people who like to have dumb fights about UV filters on the internet. If you are one of those people, you aren't going to change my mind and I have better things to do with my life than have dumb fights on the internet.

With that being said...

If you stack a second filter, in this case a color contrast filter, over top of a UV filter on a 28mm Q camera, do you get vignetting? I know it would cause an issue with the square lens hood, I have a round hood for my Q3 43 which I like, and will get one for the Q3M if I decide to purchase one, so hood clearance isn't a concern.

Thanks!

Interesting question. I put a Zeiss polarizing filter on my Q3 28 and took a photo . . . no vignetting. Next, I unscrewed from the Leica UV filter and, then, barely screwed it back so the threading held only slightly. I took another photo and, again, no vignetting. I, too, use a round hood. It's from Torsten Overgaard and I can easily install the polarizing filter with the hood on. By the way, I, too, was interested in the Monochrome but decided against it as post-processing in Photoshop works fine.

I hope this helps.

I just saw a YT vid on stacking filters on a Leica M body. I believe it was by Matt Osborne, a reliable fellow. He said it worked just fine.

If it does vignette may I suggest getting a larger diameter filter and a stepping ring to mount it. Of course this may necessitate changing your hood too. But it's a way to deal with it.
