Epson has announced a replacement for the R1800 printer - the R1900. There is a preview on the photo-i web site.
I also notice that this model and the R2400 are both being offered with $100 rebates. If Epson follows its usual pattern this means that the models are being phased out. Since the R1800 replacement has already been announced I'm guessing that the other model will be replaced as well.
The biggest failing of the R2400 seems to be the need to change the black cartridge when using different paper surfaces. Several competitors now keep both blacks available so this would seem like a good thing for Epson to address.
As I said I have no real news so this is all speculation...

Just checked, my 2200 is still here and working, so I'm OK. Ink is getting tougher to find lcoally though.

i just bought an R1800, with $150 worth of rebates.
And it worked beautifully right out of the box.
So I'm just overjoyed that Epson has introduced new models, because it allowed me to afford a wonderful printer.

There's some good data out there, I think on the outback site, about the amount of ink lost changing cartridges on the R2400 - it's not a whole lot, about what' you'd pay for your large latte.
I'm with Vick. I bought an R2400 from Epson last month for $450 delivered, which was a smoking good deal, I thought.
