Starting to prepare to sell a bunch of cameras

Pulled out one box of cameras and realized that since I haven't USED any of them for months it may well be time to sell some of them off....seems to be a trend these days...

Got another same-sized box of cameras to go through as well - this box contains mostly Olympus RF cameras (all are working (including the meters) and in excellent condition).

One camera I won't sell is this little beauty though... (and my two Leicas and 'blad are staying with me as well...).

Anyway, expect some for sale items coming up in the next few weeks :)

thanks jan.
The Olympus 35UC is commonly referred to as 'the elusive one'. It took me well over a year to track one down. Keeping it for sentimental reasons if nothing else :) (Actually got a second one as well a year later that I'm also keeping :D) ).

Rich,
Got any RCs in those boxes? Might want to try one. Another RFFer mentioned that if I liked the fit and finish of my Pen D2 (yes, very much!) then the RC might be close in size and build but full-frame.

jan,
the UC shares the same lens as the SP and SPn - a 7 element 42/1.7 lens that is an excellent picture taker. Actually, the only differences between the UC and the SP or SPn are completely cosmetic - lens and functionality are the same.

dreilley,
I have every single Olympus 35 compact camera that ever came out - and in all possible colours that they came in (even so anal that I have the black AND chrome shutter release versions of some cameras..yeah...sick I know..but I collected them...) :)

I think the RC is the only one that is in questionable condition though as the timer lever is loose if memory serves me right (not near the box right now).

Got one more box with what my memory tells me contains 10-15 non-Olympus cameras including some medium format ones and will try to get to that one this week.

Will sort through what I want to keep and then put up the rest for sale.

haha, that's just mean.
I looked at the first picture and went like "wow, I'd like to get my hands on that 35 UC!"

Then I scrolled down just a little bit...

Rich, you've got us circling like vultures. hehe
I'll be interested to see what med format cameras you have.

For those who are interested in Olympus rangefinder lenses - I understand that the letter in front of the word "Zuiko" indicates the number of elements. Therefore, "D.Zuiko" is four elements, "E.Zuiko" is five, and so on. The SP / SPn have seven, as Rich said - a "G.Zuiko."

Hey! Where are the EC/EC2/ECR cameras! Just kidding!

Reverse-threaded - found that out the hard way.

I see a Mamiya Super Deluxe peeping out of your top photograph, too! Great camera, guys, and a bit rare in working condition!

Will sort through what I want to keep and then put up the rest for sale.

Best of luck with the sale, Rich!

Best Regards,

This comment is directed at all of us, not specifically at Richard.

Man are we a bunch of sick individuals. I keep seeing slight variations of things that I have and have to fight myself constantly not to buy them all.

It is really fun at the time though when you assemble your "complete" collection, until you find out there is one you don't have, yet.

There is nothing wrong with collecting. Only in my case, please to call it 'research'.

If I am correct the Mamiya Super Deluxe was introduced in my year of birth, 1966. I had compiled a list of cameras that share my vintage at one time, my M3 was made in 1966 and I have taken a liking to Minolta SRT 101s.

Hmmm, do I have room for a Super Deluxe?

See, it is a sickness.

I have been wanting to purchase an Olympus 35 SP ... you have one in good working condition? Where will you be selling this particular camera, Rich? Here in the classifieds?

The whole completionist attitude collectors often have is interesting - and I think I absolutely had it when it came to collecting these cameras.

But it could had been worse, I could had spent the money on crack.
