Stereo Photography Formats

I was recently looking at some old ViewMaster Steroscope reels and was really taken in. There are some really interesting photographs in this format. What sort of camera made these photos? I have seen various stereo cameras and RF attachments, but I’m not clear on the different Stereo formats.
 
A whole bunch of them. 3D or stereo photography was all the rage back in the 1950's, and it can still be fascinating. The biggest impediment to popularity was that viewing is by nature a solitary activity - even if you pass around the viewfinders. No magazine could print what the pictures 'really' looked like.

A little late to this thread, but I have an old Viewmaster camera which is technically a rangefinder. Belonged to my grand-father.

Takes 35mm slide film and shoots four shots to a frame. I have never used it for its intended purpose, but I have put a few rolls of negative film through it. If you have any questions please let me know.
