Damn that hurts!
Will keep an eye out in case it shows up on eBay. The idiots probably thought it was a digi P&S too!

Keep an Eye on Ebay.
You think by now EBay would require Sellers to list Serial Numbers on items sold. I guess fencing stolen goods brings in a lot of money for them.
Penn camera is one of the few places in this area that would buy/sell this gear. I would give them a call as well.

Kiu: Why the Nikon F serial Number for your Tag?
I used my S2 SN on another forum. 61352(xx); I picked up the 219th Nikon S2 and before that, SN 61794xx, one of the last Chrome-Dial S2's. All luck.

leica and University of Texas have a stolen list for Leica; maybe there are one or more for Nikon, too...You can also collect about $500 on your standard apartment or householder insurance -- if you file a police report...regards, bob

Kiu,
As for the topic of our recent PM. I don't need to bid anymore if you want to go after that SP as a replacement....
> Brian, 645xxx is my birthday!!
NOW WE KNOW WHY YOU ARE NIKON KIU!!!
You have a Nikon F serial number for a Birthday!
But I'll bet you have a Nikon F with a Serial Number older than you are. I never picked up an "early" Nikon F, have a 6420xxx. Stumbled into it for $100 with an eye-level finder. EX+, had it CLA'd. The two 7101xxx Nikon F2's were also stumbled across.

Bummer. I keep my camera in the car all the time, but hidden by wadded up newspapers.

_________________________________________________________________to be real for a moment, I lost an 18 K Rolex at gunpoint in Times Square years ago and wrote a letter to Rolex, giving them the serial number, etc. and asking them to notify me if it ever came in for repair...They replied that so many watches came in that they would be unable to help...The only way you'd ever see your Nikon again -- unless lightning strikes -- would be if you had influence...I also have lost a Leica IIIF to a thief at a camera show...It has never been found...it's nice to get all these positive posts and I'm sorry I have to rain on your parade but you have to face facts...It's gone and the guy that stole it will go from bar to bar and sell it for as little as ten bucks, to get his next fix...regards, bob :bang:NIKON KIU said:My Nikon S3 and 5cm f2.0 were stolen from my car![]()

Keep an eye on your local craigslist.org "electronics" section too. Maybe posters in the neighborhood where it was stolen offering a decent reward and "no questions asked" might help. What a drag!

I hope that you get your S3 back.
I hope there is a really hot place that the souls of thieving scum go after bodily death.

OTOH it can't harm to give a head's up - you never know ...bob cole said:to be real for a moment, ... you have to face facts...It's gone
Several years ago some pond life stole my motorbike from the centre of London (UK not Canada!), and I naturally assumed it'd gone for good. A week later and 20 miles distant, my sister phoned to let me know that she'd just walked past my bike! London's huge (600 sq. miles), so the chance of someone I knew stumbling across my stolen bike were slim indeed, yet they did, and I got it back!

Why should they die first before being thrown into that "hot place"?

Also, if you have a sales receipt and/pr photo of the camera with serial numbedr, it would be good to know where to find those quickly. If the S3 does appear on an auction site, you want to be able to quickly prove your case for ownership.
And, At least it wasn't the SP-2005!
