I know about freezer storing film to keep it fresh. what about exposed film? Due to cost I can't pay to process it right away .

Yup. Chilled or frozen, in original tubs (35mm) or clingfilm (120). Leave for 1-2 hours minimum before processing, to reach room temperature.

Because I send my films overseas for bulk development and scanning, some of my exposed films have to wait up to 10 weeks before they will be processed. I put them in the fridge to wait. Not to forget the unfinished rolls in many cameras which last for months until they get finished.
I never had any related problems.
(No, I don't put loaded cameras in the refrigerator)
