I've got a Leica grip (14405) that I like using on my M4. I'd like to also use a Gordy's tripod mount strap, but I'm not certain that the grip and/or its tripod socket can handle that much stress. Anyone have horror stories to tell?

(I did spend some time searching the archives, so apologies if the answer is there and I failed to find it.)

the Leica grip has worked excellent on my M4-P, M6, MP for the last decade. The side mount straps for handheld use offers plenty of horror stories, with the camera eyelet basically being ripped out of the body. This is a pricey repair since a new hole would need to be drilled.

I have one of these and can attest that it really improves the handling of the camera. However, for some unknown reason, I don´t install it on the camera. Somehow it seems wrong to use one.

I also have the L-grip and intend to get the Gordy tripod version. However, I don't expect to put much stress on the connection - I won't be swinging or dangling the camera from the Gordy strap.
