Not much fall color yet. So since I was out and about with my Zeiss 524/16, and a recently expired roll of Kodak Ektar 100, I decided to practice on my exposure calculations.

Some were corrected a bit in PSE 10, as I was mostly a half to full stop off, thinking I could use the high latitude winter rules. Those usually work better November through March. And I did some cropping, since life isn't always in a square box.

This was a little bright, so I ran the Smart Fix on it, then a slight crop to better place the elements of the scene.

Bristles by br1078phot, on Flickr
Ran the Smart Fix on this one, and cropped it to eliminate some of the messy foreground, even up the composition, and eliminate the lens flare in the lower left corner. I forgot to bring the hood with me.

Morning Gathering by br1078phot, on Flickr
The mallards and Canadians mixing it up first thing in the morning. When I was at the last shot, I debated whether to save it for something I might see on the way back, or go ahead and do some more practicing.

Well, I decided to practice, and it didn't come out very good, so that was a waste.

When I came back on this scene, there was a large white egret standing in the shallows, and the other birds were more visible. So I should have either saved that last shot, or had my digital camera with me too.

Shining Through by br1078phot, on Flickr
This came out too light, so I had to darken, and add some contrast.

I wanted to get the movement of the water, so I selected a slower shutter speed.

Like I said, not much color yet.

So, what do you think?
