I don't know why, but I have suddenly gotten the itch to buy a black Kiev. (Maybe it's because I couldn't afford the Leica CL I wanted.)
Does anyone know if these are actually powder-coated black, or painted (badly?) by hand?

do your job, then let go
If you really want a black Kiev See Fedka's Site it's a lot more expensive but you know you will be getting a good user camera and a dealer who will stand behind it.
Otherwise the chrome ones are nice too

My FSU life story has been the deferred purchases of more expensive rangefinders. It's a long way between a Leica CL and a Kiev, though.
Have you considered getting the meterless Leica CL in the classifieds? I think it was going for a great price.
Or you could get a Bessa R.

I don't see the CL anywhere for sale...
I have an M6, M3, IIIC, IIIF, and Kiev (with huge meter on top). What I NEED is a contax copy for fun.
FEDKA actually operates close to me (in New York), so I may check out his cameras.
I just wish I could open up that Contax/Kiev back and stick a full-frame digital sensor on that beast. But that's another subject.

If to judge the quality of your prospective black camera following what I see from those front black chromiums, I say: Go ahead!!!.

It's disappeared. I assume it's been sold, or the seller decided to keep it.
