Summar lens cap diameter?

Hiya,

I have searched *grins*

My Summar like so many has no lens cap and short of finding the proper A36 cap, having had mine serviced (and it's a cracking lens from my first shots) I want to protect that front element. I'm not too fussed on aesthetics, more about practical things!

Can someone tell me whether a 34mm clip on cap will fit? I don't want to spend the earth on what is just a lens cap 🙂 I've measured the diameter of my lens and it looks to be 34-35mm according to my ruler, I can pick up a nice plain black cap for about £2 if so.

Eventually I try to track down an A36 cap but for now a basic one will do.

Yes, it takes 34mm filters. So a 34mm clip cap ought to fit.

Hard to imagine that MW Classic Cameras wouldn't have a Leica A36 lens cap for sale. Just not listed on the website, I'm sure.

Thanks John, I've ordered one and will report back here what the outcome is. I'm sure it'll be fine. I just need something to protect it but also make it possible for me to carry in an accessible place where I can easily swap between it and my 35mm Ultron. Thanks!

Why not get one of the hard rubber repro caps? They are on ebay for a few £, or you could call The Real Camera Co in Manchester and they will post you one.
