I just love my summarit lens. Clearly a favorite of mine since day 1. I understand my copy is mint and clean.
I promised I'd post a few shots with my sample so here are 2 shots from the past week-end.
Please post your Summarit 5CM shots!

OMG what a beautiful lens, and very nice shots as well. I'm going to look for 5cm Summarit now.

Mine was broken (2 aperture blades loose and filled with metal particles between glass). DAG cleaned it, fixed it and lubed it. What a beautiful performer it became!
The prices for this lens are all over the map, ranging from 200 to 700$ depending on ebay bidder's mood I guess. Since it's the "first" Summilux, or the "father of the summilux", it's an old lens. Expect to have it CLA'd... But what a gem!

... likes film again.
It seems to be a good lens and very nice shots. I like the mood in the first one.

actually I have a question. Could someone point me into how one goes about fitting these lenses onto an M6 TTL? I assume there is an adapter to use, but which one?

Great pictures. I don't have the Summarit and I've never seen the character of this lens. I've seen a lot of great pictures taken with this lens (Gabriel MA's pictures for instance) and I admit this lens is damn good when it's good. What else? I prefer the look of my Summitar, it's only a matterof taste though (plus the f2 to f1.5 difference).
NB23 (and the other Summarit users), why do you like this lens that much? I really would like to understand.
Best,
Marc-A.
There are several adapters:
Leitz M2 50 M3 28-50 (got mine for 20€ or so)
Voigtlander 50 (see Cameraquest, cheap and good)
grey market/Chinese adapters (just have a look on evilB)

Hi Peter!
I sent 2 lenbses to DAG and the total was 180$. I believe this fix + clean was 100-120$ Range. Not very sure and I didn't really care at the tiem. I was just glad it got fixed.

The mood was definitely there. That's the kind of images only a Leica can catch, only because it's so small and sexy (Man I love holding a Leica!) that I bring it with me everywhere where I go.

About the Summarit: The lens is really incredible. Its optical qualities just jumped at me. Soft, yet sharp. It's just incredible. I don't know how to explain it but it was so obvious.

If I don't see the sign on the second photo, I'd think that you're a bit weird
Summarit is the lens, what's the camera?

My Summarit is a very nice example, but the focus is stiff, so I don't use it much. Put it on the M8 this evening (after reading this thread) and managed a snap of a neighbour's daughter. Shot at 2.8, cropped and converted to B&W in CS3. I think I'll use it some more.

I like the photos - composition and ideas. However, I really don't see what is so special about this lens. Same photos taken with the Summicron or Summitar or Planar would look at least as good. Just my opinion.

I shot a couple of rolls with mine and saw that it was flaring, so I sent it to Sherry Krauter. She re-coated it and cleaned it. I just shot another roll since it came back, but haven't developed them yet.
The couple of shots here have the flare prior to sending it in, but I still like the way the lens performs. It has that old look.
This one was straight into the sun
