A big dealer on eBay offers this lens: https://www.ebay.de/itm/Leica-M-Sum...413240?hash=item3b0d5f32f8:g:MOgAAOSwEA5bc4N5

I've never seen this version of this lens before. Isn't this not just an ordinary version but with the yellow numbers made red? Isn't the price too high? The seller states that the lens is rare.

No connection with the seller, etc.

Serial number 3018930.

Erik,
I think that you are right thinking "yellow numbers made red".

Something unusual : the small "50" marking near "m" under "feet".

(made it 35.0 mm "measured focal length")

Very unusual for lenses under 50mm focal length.
But I've seen sometimes theese oddities.

I've seen this "50" on other lenses of this type and from this period too.

Both the Leica-store in Vienna and Schouten in The Netherlands have at this moment 8-element 35mm f/2 lenses in black chrome for sale at very high prices, but these lenses are known variations, extremely rare however. What to think about the offer shown here? Does this dealer try to profit from the current hype of black chrome 35mm lenses?

Sure looks like anodized in the worn areas.

Hard for me to tell the difference between "black chrome" and "anodized" anyway. Isn't "anodized" a kind of black chemical on aluminium and "black chrome" on brass?

Found the answer: Both "black chrome" and "anodize" are applied on aluminium. The difference is seen when compared. "Anodize" gives a deeper black, "black chrome" is more gray. I guess the lens in the ad is truly a rare piece. The difference will be seen when the lens is compared with an anodized one.
