Summitar won't collapse

I just picked up a 1950 Summitar. Cosmetically the lens in in great shape with very clean glass and the coating still looks great.

Focus is smooth. The aperture was extremely stiff but I removed the ring, cleaned and re-greased it and that is all set.

When I got the lens it wouldn't open all the way. Somehow the end of the barrel with the rotation slot was misaligned with the locating slot on the length of the barrel.

I was able to realign this but when I open it it was a little harder to get the barrel fully extended. Once I did it was able to rotate and lock in place. It can rotate and unlock fine but the barrel won't collapse. I doubt the slot moved again (I didn't force anything) but maybe the locating pin was damaged at some point and just doesn't slide into the slot properly or the black locking tabs rotated a little compared to the slot?

Any hints/tricks to try and collapse the barrel again?

Thanks,

Shawn

Thanks. Mine has a slightly different mount though as it has the three screws and two more. According to the Nobbysparrow manual it is much more difficult to open that section up. Focusing is fine, just the collapsing mechanism isn't right.

Thanks,

Shawn
