I finally found time to shoot my Super Speed this weekend. It recently came bak from Fred Lustig for some repairs and a tuneup.
Here a couple of sample shots - Tri-X, handheld.
It is a fun camera to shoot and the lens is Optar lens is pretty good.

Cool!
Are you using the 1000 speed shutter?

I find the Optar to be a quite fine lens. It offends me when people talk it down, often based on no real information. Mine is a great performer. It looks to me likle your lens performs well also.

I haven't used 1000th yet, but it should be fine - Fred worked on it because the cocking was stiff. I like the lens based on the limited use thus far, I can't see anything to complain about other than the possibility of future shutter problems (and my needing to find more interesting subject matter for the next outing!) It flares about like some of my other vintage lenses and seems as sharp as any...

Very nice, and a pleasant relief from all these x100 digi photos I've seen here lately. What a difference. That first shot is outstanding.

Thanks Steve, I agree - B&W the way the gods intended.

Nothing looks better than a 4X5 unless it's maybe something larger. 4X5 bw is amazing. Jim

I really gotta shoot some 4x5 in my SG.
Great shots GDI, expecially the clump of roots.

Ahhh, that was the second part of my question... it was overhauled by Fred. Nice. I don't believe that there aren't too many people that will work on them.

There is a regular on Graflex.org who can CLA one, but he has no parts.

Nice shots indeed. I have often wished I had a SG.

About three were sold at an auction of a private collection in Columbus about a week ago, the dealers should be looking to turn them around, they were in nice shape, sometime they look as if they were dragged behind a car on a chain.

Looks good, especially the first shot.
I bought a SG as my first 4x5 camera specifically because it's useable handheld (I almost never used a tripod), and then 90% of the time I have it sitting on a tripod...
