With the closing of Contax G line from Kyocera, how are we going to get Support, Service, Repair, Parts, etc.?

Kyocera reported that they will repair and keep parts for the g for the next 10 years.

Since the G is a proprietary system with no commonality with any other, if your camera needs to go in for service, that puts the whole system out of service... This thought contributed to my deciding to get a second body, as I wouldn't want to be unable to use those lovely lenses even briefly!

See the ToCad support thread I started.

Would love to find a Sherry Krauter for Contax.
Yes... I'm a little concerned about my recent second G2 body. The shutter is reluctant to fire often in shots closer than about a meter. The AF seems to have settled on a specific distance, like .8m, and then the shutter button has a springy feel and it won't take the shot. Switch to manual focus, get the focus indicator settled down, and it still won't shoot. Sometimes it will shoot but there's a delay. Beyond a meter, as far as I can make out now, it seems ok. Any ideas?

Well, I got lucky with the above problem, which turned out to be an anomaly. All the problem behavior was with the 28mm Biogon, and so when I put on the 35 Planar... problem solved! I put both bodies side by side, lensless, and didn't see any difference in the lens connections. The 7 gold pins were all standing tall and shiny, but I brushed them lightly with an eraser tip. Same for the two lenses, examining their mounts.

So I put the 28mm back on and wandered around taking snapshots concentrating on sub-meter distances without any trouble at all. I can only guess that it was a glitch in the way the 28mm was seated on the camera that time. I'm happy as long as the problem stays gone!

Anyone had any service done at ToCAD in the last 3 to 4 weeks?
Just wondering what the lastest status is on their response (going on a couple of months trying to get parts myself)
