Hi

Ive tested a time-zero film in a Sx-70 polaroid camera... And i must say that im not satisfied of the result!
Whats the trick to taking sx-70 pics?
Ive seen a tutorial on how to convert it so it can take the 600iso film (time-zero is iso150)... But will that inprove the colors?
If anybody is familiar to this..post some tips plz

1) SX70 Time-zero Film is color balanced for Flashbar, ie blue-tinted flashbulbs. If you are using Electronic Flash the results are poor.

2) I use 600 speed film in my SX70 Sonar by using the 1.5x Telephoto Lens and The Polatronic Electronic Flash model 2350. The "follow-focus" flash sets the F-stop and the 1.5x lens makes the camera think the object is farther than it is. The "error" is cancelled out by the 2 F-Stop change in film speed. You may have to experiment, for closer subjects it is best to set the light/dark control one stop to dark.

3) You can also place a white piece of paper so that it is "seen" by the electric eye. I have not done this, but saw the wtite-up in Pop photo years ago. You essentially make the Electric-eye into an incident meter. Tape a white piece of cardboard at an angle to the electric-eye so that it "sees" light reflected to it. Instead of the "18% Grey" that it is calibrated for, the white cardboard causes it to stop way down.

4) I have found the 600 speed B&W film is closer to ASA 400. Setting the light/dark all the way to dark works.

5) You need to use the cover to slip the 600 speed cartridge in, it will hang up if you do not cover the notches on the bottom while slipping it in.

This is with a Polaroid Spectra; same emulsion as the 600 films. Done with an old scanner, but does give an idea of the colors.

You may also look at a Polaroid 680 or 690. The built in flash is great for outdoor fill-flash, as was done with this shot.
