Looking for community's help: Are there any repair shops out there that will work on a vintage original SX-70 Sonar? I inherited the camera my father got when they first came out and I'm starting to think it really needs a refurb. Thanks in advance.

My son sent his SX70 (film jamming inside) to a fellow in the US who was fairly well known for doing work on them. It came back no better, for $135.
I don't know who it was but I can ask him.

Gary and the rest of the crew at MiNT Camera in Hong Kong have been doing a very good job of promoting, refurbishing, and upgrading Polaroid SX-70 cameras over the past few years. They've done me very well with my cameras and accessories... A quote from the "After Sales/Service page of the website:

If you're in the US, I can *definitely* recommend Retrospekt (https://retrospekt.com). I found a banged-up old Polaroid SLR 680 in a second-hand shop, and they sent it back to me (a bit over a month later) looking brand new. And when they return it, it comes in a very classy black box with the name of the camera on the outside, and a magnetic lid closure. I just ran two boxes of film through it yesterday.

I've also heard very good things about Brooklyn Film Camera (http://www.brooklynfilmcamera.com/services/sx70-repair). I'd definitely be willing to try them, but honestly I had such a great experience with Retrospekt, I'll probably use them again. (I also have an SX-70 I'll probably send it at some point for refurbishment, although it seems to be working fine at the moment.)
