Tariffs and International Travel (from the US) with your camera gear

PSA - when traveling internationally from the US, it may be a good idea to complete a CBP Form 4457 prior to your departure from the US. Show the completed form to a CBP officer at the airport along with your gear for their confirmation and signature. Then make sure you do NOT lose the completed, signed form upon your return as proof that you did not buy the gear during your trip.

Not knowing how strictly the tariffs will be enforced on personal goods upon US re-entry, it may just be a good idea to play it safe. I'm traveling to Japan next month, and fully intend to complete the form before then.

Edit: As someone reminded me, another option would be to bring your original receipts if you still have them.
